We had the incredible opportunity to speak with 75 first-year high school students at Padre Aplas Catholic School¹  about the life-changing results of our eco-stove initiative.TRL's the Q'aaq' Stoves!

Through this engaging talk, we introduced the students to how energy-efficient stoves are transforming lives here in Santiago Atitlán by reducing firewood consumption, improving health by lowering indoor air pollution, and protecting our beautiful environment.

The students were eager to learn how these stoves align with our shared responsibility to care for the planet and leave a positive mark on our community.

Together, we’re inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards!

¹ Padre Aplas, or Father Stanley Rother, was an American priest who served the Tz’utujil Maya community in Santiago Atitlán. Renowned for his compassion, he learned their language, supported education and health, and stood by them during Guatemala's civil war. Martyred in 1981, he was beatified in 2017. Padre Apla’s Catholic School honors his legacy of service and faith.
