Dear TRL Family,

We are overjoyed to share some inspiring news with you—Tu'ik Ruch Lew (TRL) has been honored with First Place in the GEMAS Environmental Award in the Environmental Citizen category! This incredible milestone is the result of more than a decade of dedication, perseverance, and the collective love for our environment shared by our team and the Tz'utujil Mayan community

Our Communications and Fundraising Coordinator, María Teresa Puac, and Co-founder, Isabel Quinilla Pérez, had the privilege of representing TRL and receiving the award from Governor Vivian Mayorga of Escuintla, presented on behalf of Ultracem, a Guatemalan cement company that shares our commitment to climate change conservation.

The ceremony, filled with vibrant Guatemalan culture, brought together many environmental care champions to celebrate the shared mission of protecting our planet.

*King Tepepul was the last Tz'utujil ruler to resist the Spanish invasion. The mountain bearing his name is a geographic landmark and a symbol of resilience and cultural heritage for the Tz'utujil people.
