Xmas Holiday Newsletter 2022

A happy family with their new stove  Photo credit: TRL

Dear Friends and Supporters of Tui’k Ruch’lew,

We hope this letter finds you well. As the holiday season approaches, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support of our work to bring clean energy and sustainability to the beautiful land of Guatemala.

As you may know, carbon credits are a way for businesses and organizations to offset their carbon emissions by investing in projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere. These credits can be bought and sold on carbon markets, and the money raised goes towards funding clean energy and sustainability projects around the world.

Our main project activity is focused on the development and distribution of improved cookstoves. These cookstoves use significantly less fuel than traditional stoves, resulting in reduced carbon emissions and healthier indoor air quality for the families who use them. As a result of this project, we have been certified for the reduction of carbon emissions by Verra with Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) that are available for purchase.

In addition to reducing carbon emissions and improving indoor air quality, our project is also contributing to the achievement of several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through the use of these cookstoves, we are helping to end poverty (SDG 1), achieve gender equality (SDG 5), ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all (SDG 7), promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all (SDG 8), take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts (SDG 13) and protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, forests, oceans and seas (SDG 15).

As you celebrate the holidays with loved ones, we hope you will also consider giving the gift of sustainability by purchasing carbon credits to offset your carbon footprint. Not only will your support help us continue our important work in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala, but it will also provide a financial incentive for businesses to reduce their own carbon emissions and demonstrate their commitment to a sustainable future. Be part of the systemic change today!

Thank you again for your support of our NGO and for your commitment to combating climate change. We wish you a happy and healthy holiday season.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jessica Kind Advisor Tui’k Ruch’Lew
